Louisiana law — La. R.S. 32:361.1, updated by Act 143 of 2025 (in effect since August 1, 2025). On cars, the front and rear side windows may go to 25% VLT MAX and the rear windshield to 12% VLT MAX. On SUVs, vans, trucks, and motor homes, everything behind the driver may go as dark as you like. The windshield takes a transparent strip on the top five inches only, and tint may not be red or amber. VLT is visible light transmission — the lower the number, the darker the film. We install to legal limits and will walk you through your options before any film goes on.
The things drivers ask most after fresh film goes on.
Louisiana's rule is laid out in the tint law band above: on cars, 25% VLT MAX on the front and rear side windows and 12% VLT MAX on the rear windshield; on SUVs, vans, and trucks, everything behind the driver may go darker. Louisiana loosened its front-window rule in August 2025, so older advice about a 40% transmission floor is out of date. We'll confirm the legal shade for your vehicle before any film goes on.
Follow the aftercare guidance provided by the installer. Cure time can vary with the film and the weather, so the shop will give you the right timing for your installation.
A hazy look and small water pockets are a normal part of curing — the film is applied wet, and the moisture works its way out as it dries. It clears on its own over the curing period. Don't press on the bubbles; let them dry out.
Automotive window film is normally installed on the inside surface of the glass, where it is protected from weather and road debris.
Use a soft microfiber cloth and a tint-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive tools, and ask the installer which products they recommend for your specific film.
Yes. The shop can help you balance appearance, privacy, heat control, visibility, and Louisiana's tint laws before installation.
