Michigan law — MCL 257.709. Michigan does it differently: instead of a percentage up front, the law controls where film may go. No film is allowed on the front side windows or the windshield except a strip along the top four inches (or down to the factory shade band, whichever sits closer to the top). Behind the driver, rear side windows and the rear windshield may go as dark as you like — the catches are reflectivity (film there may not create a total solar reflectance of 35% or more) and mirrors (if the tinted rear window blocks your view, the vehicle needs outside mirrors on both sides). VLT is visible light transmission — the lower the number, the darker the film. We install to legal limits and will walk you through your options before any film goes on.
The things drivers ask most after fresh film goes on.
Michigan's rule is laid out in the tint law band above: no film on the front side windows or the windshield below a strip along the top four inches — but rear side windows and the rear windshield may go as dark as you like. The Michigan State Police confirm tinting is limited to the rear glass and that top strip. We'll confirm the legal setup for your vehicle before any film goes on.
Follow the aftercare guidance provided by the installer. Cure time can vary with the film and the weather, so the shop will give you the right timing for your installation.
A hazy look and small water pockets are a normal part of curing — the film is applied wet, and the moisture works its way out as it dries. It clears on its own over the curing period. Don't press on the bubbles; let them dry out.
Automotive window film is normally installed on the inside surface of the glass, where it is protected from weather and road debris.
Use a soft microfiber cloth and a tint-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive tools, and ask the installer which products they recommend for your specific film.
Yes. The shop can help you balance appearance, privacy, heat control, visibility, and Michigan's tint laws before installation.
