Wisconsin law: the windshield may carry non-reflective tint above the AS-1 line only, and a vehicle with its rear window tinted below 60% VLT needs dual outside mirrors. VLT is visible light transmission — the lower the number, the darker the film. We install to legal limits and will walk you through your options before any film goes on.
The things drivers ask most after fresh film goes on.
Wisconsin's rule is laid out in the tint law band above: 50% VLT MAX on the front side windows, and 35% VLT MAX on the rear side windows and the rear windshield. Windshield tint is non-reflective and stops at the AS-1 line, and if your rear window is tinted below 60% VLT the vehicle needs dual outside mirrors. We'll confirm the legal shade for your vehicle before any film goes on.
Give fresh film a few days to cure before rolling the windows down. Sliding the glass too soon can catch an edge of film that is still setting. If the shop gives you a specific wait time for your install, follow that.
A hazy look and small water pockets are a normal part of curing — the film is applied wet, and the moisture works its way out as it dries. It clears on its own over the curing period, which runs longer in cold Wisconsin weather. Don't press on the bubbles; let them dry out.
Clean tinted glass with a soft microfiber cloth and a gentle, ammonia-free cleaner — ammonia can break film down over time. Skip paper towels, scouring pads, and anything abrasive, and wait until the film has fully cured before the first cleaning.
